The northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi features a 150-meter corridor of maple trees that form a brilliant tunnel of red and orange in late October. With Mount Fuji rising majestically behind the lake, this spot produces the iconic autumn shot. Best time: Sunrise to 8 AM for golden light and minimal crowds. The annual Fuji-Kawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival runs here from late October to late November, with evening illuminations.
Yes, it's famous — and for good reason. The five-story pagoda framed by vibrant autumn maples with Mount Fuji behind it is one of Japan's most photographed scenes. The 400-step climb is worth it.
